Praying into Alignment

The sons of Issachar understood the times and knew what Israel ought to do (1 Chronicles 12:32). Their understanding led to direction. This is why I keep returning to alignment as I pray about 5787. It is possible to recognize that something is happening and still respond in a way that pulls us away from God’s mind.
I believe distraction and confusion have cost the church dearly. We can spend our strength arguing about Israel, political events, or the latest conspiracy while neglecting prayer, the Word of God, and the people we are called to reach. These matters may raise serious questions, but constant argument does not itself give us understanding. If we allow anger or fear to direct us, we may miss what God is asking us to do.
Binah, understanding, helps us discern the season. Alignment follows when we bring our thoughts, prayers, relationships, and actions into agreement with what God shows us. We cannot enter the rest of obedience while pulling in a different direction. This is why the yoke matters: those working together must be willing to seek God’s direction together.
Alignment does not mean that every Christian will have the same task or agree immediately on every difficult issue. It means we return to the Lord, listen carefully, test what we think we hear against His Word, and refuse to let confusion become our guide. Prayer should make us more attentive to God and more faithful in what He has entrusted to us.
Apply this personally before looking at anyone else. What has been taking most of your attention lately? Has it helped you love God and serve people, or has it kept you exhausted and divided? In your home, work, and ministry, are your decisions moving with the direction you believe God has given you? Bring those questions honestly into prayer.
Prayer
Father, give us understanding where we are confused. Expose the distractions that have drawn us away from You. Bring our thoughts, words, partnerships, and actions into alignment with Your Word and Your purposes. Teach us to recognize the season and to do what You are asking of us. Amen.
